Emirates Classification Society “Tasneef” and Kleindienst Group have signed a contract, under which Tasneef will provide classification standards, design assessment and surveillance during construction for the floating villas, also called ‘Floating Seahorses’ being constructed by Kleindienst Group. This is a significant step towards supporting floating marine facilities in the country, the first of its kind industry in the world, while ensuring the highest safety standards.
H.E. Dr. Abdullah Bin Mohammed Belhaif Al Nuaimi, Minister of Public Works and Chairman of the Federal Transport Authority – Land and Marine, commented on the signing of the contract saying: “Signing this contract ensures once again the leading global role of the UAE in all sectors including marine infrastructure sector and the transformation to new forms of marine facilities that are more environmentally compatible. Considering Tasneef as the classification society to supervise the implementation of the special standards for this project comes as an important step for our national companies to guarantee the implementation of safety and quality standards in order to ensure safety for the users of these facilities.”
Commenting on the signing of the contract, Eng. Rashed Al Hebsi, CEO of Tasneef said: “We are pleased to cooperate with Kleindienst Group and will work with them to ensure the highest quality and safety standards for the facilities to be developed by them. This is an opportunity for the UAE & regional marine constructional sector for the innovation and the deepening of international classification standards, which we have created. It will open up new horizons for companies operating in this sector, so that together we can develop the marine industry and the national economy.”
Captain Waleed Al Nahdi, Chief Commercial Officer at Tasneef said: “Globally, classification standards have become a necessity, as sustainability along with the highest standards of safety cannot be ignored. Here at Tasneef, we create standards as an integral part of our social responsibility in all sectors, and ensure overall compliance with such regulations.” Today we are signing this contract to review and approve the detailed plans and to supervise the building of those floating villas and to issue the certificates of compliance inside and outside UAE, reaching world class level in the UAE specifications.”
Josef Kleindienst, Chairman of Kleindienst Group commented on the signing of the contract by saying: “We are honored to sign this significant contract with Tasneef and we recognize the added value that this will bring to our services. This contract will enable us to meet the quality and safety standards for the public facilities that we are building. We chose to partner with Tasneef, instead of another global classification society, as it is an honor to work with and promote a local organization that has already created an international reputation and a strong global presence.”
After compliance with Tasneef’s classifications standards for floating villas, the Kliendienst Group will build more than 100 Floating villas in the world. Each Floating Seahorse will weigh 210 tonnes and feature 25m2 (269 sq ft) of underwater glazing and a coral garden spanning 46m2 (495 sq ft). The underwater level of the Floating Seahorse will be the idyllic environment in which seahorses can live and breed in their natural habitat in the Arabian Gulf.
This project is evidence that the UAE is a haven for creative initiatives in the field of real estate development based on new technological concepts. The project also adds a new unique and world class classification service to the existing services offered by Tasneef, proving its ability to lead in the field of marine classification standards.
